MS SQL: Restore to specific time as slow as full restore

I have a 9 GB MS SQL DB with a Full recovery model.

Why is restoring to a point in time (2 minutes ago) as slow as restoring the whole 9 GB database, overwriting the original?

Surely something is wrong!
