How to start using a database with WAMP? Complete noob here

I'm reading a SQL book and i've followed various guides, other than a semester of entity-relationships diagrams painting in class. Now i want to keep studying even if i'm home alone.

I installed WAMP, i have my index.php and my .JS files but now i want to try to associate a database to my index.php, using some SQL and a mySQL databases used in WAMP.

I have PHPmyadmin as an interface, but i can't find proper tutorials on what to do now. Any help? Thank you.
