Connecting from SQL2000 client to SQL2008Express

How to connect from mssql2000 client in my pc to our mssql2008express server?

I'm using to connect to our mssql2008express with 'servername' using sql server authentication.

error: Unable to connect to server 'servername' Server: Msg17, Level, State1 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
