Connecting SQL2008R2 to SQL2000

Initially, my desktop has been installed with MSSQl2000 Standard Edition SQL Client. Recently, I installed SQL2008R2 client and server instant. I'm using SQL2008 SQL Management Studio to replace the old SQL2000 Query analyzer and Enterprise Manager. Yesterday I try to install SQL2000 instant server but i cannot connect because when i register the server instant on Entrprise Manager i get a message that I should use the SQL Server Management Studio or SQL Server Management Objects (SMO). Where is my SQL2000 instant?
