single user mode on corrupt database being used by checkpoint

I have a suspect database on my development box that has been put into single user mode. I'm attempting to run some dbcc commands on it but they tell me that the database is already open and can only have one user at a time. sp_who2 shows that the only session open is a system level checkpoint. Is there a way to clear this process out? It has been running for quite some time.
