I am getting to upgrade our servers and am looking at a 12 core (chaching!) processor for our OLTP system. I haven't been able to find much on the web that validates or answers the following:
What difference in performance (if any) will I realize with a 1x12 core processor or a 2x6 core processor?
My gut tells me that we will realize better performance with the 2x6 SKU, but I really don't know how to start verifying this (no lab to test atm).
Any thoughts? Opinions?
